Longest bike ride and angel on my shoulder.

Last Sunday I did my longest bike ride ever! 46 miles! I biked the race course but decided to not go to Monroe and ride those hills. My thighs were sore from the previous workouts.
I did need to ride on parts of the course which I have not been on yet. This included Dubuque Road which can get busy with traffic, even on Sunday mornings. I made it up the steepest of the road then took a break before tackling the worse part. As I eat and rested, there were so many cars going through the intersection. People going to church and to wherever. I said a prayer and then I was off, telling myself that I had to do this. There are parts of Dubuque Road that are steep and scary to me. Let alone no shoulder. I made it to the last downhill part before the Centenial Trail. Down the hill I went and I whispered sorry to the vehicles that are stuck behind me as I speed down as fast as I could. I was so scared! I visioned a line of cars behind me wanting to pass this crazy biker. As I got to the trail and turned right I looked behind me and there was nobody there! My gardian angel was with me! Thank you God! This is not the first time and hopefully won't be the last time that my angel was with me on my bike ride.
The trail was great cause it was flat and I could concentrate on good cadence. The 9 am class for Cross Fit All In was taking place and the box is on the course. As I turned left to the box I saw several people , including coach Jay, doing their WOD, 800 meters of lunges! It started to rain! I said hi and heard Jay laugh and it rained for the next two miles. I almost gave up and called Alfredo to pick me up. I was not going to ride two more hours in the rain! The then rain stopped. I reprimanded myself for almost quitting! My mind wanted to give up. I need to toughen up.
The rest of the ride was great. It started to rain again when I got to Granite Falls. Then on to home. That was 3 1/2 hours. Next ride coach Mary wants me to do a 60 miler so I know what it feels like!?
My nutrition is good and I didn't feel dizzy this time. Learned to duck tape my gel to the bike and rip it off as I rode and it opened at the same time.
The smells as I ride are wonderful! Summer is here.
