With five weeks to go I am in the mist of hard training days. Coach Mary stresses to me to REST hard on rest days and train hard on training days. This week saw an open water swim in Lake Stevens on Wednesday. Can I say fricken cold loud enough!! Wow! Where is the sun? Also since the race has been moved up from August to July there is less chance for the water to get warm. Last year it was a wonderful 68 degrees. I don't think that will happen this year. Even though I wear a wetsuit, my arms and hands got cold. Just got to make sure I get a good warm up before the race.
Had a 14 mile run this week. Then rest day. Then Sunday planned 60 mile bike (I did 62.5) and two mile off the bike run with the second mile being at 8:34 pace, and it felt good! Need to get some more stretching in before bedtime. I biked the course and hit the hills hard with taking it a little easier on the flats. Still trying to figure out how to go about the race strategy on the bike. Last year with two loops I took the first one nice and the second one pushed it more. This year with one loop on a course with lots of hills I'm just not sure when I should push it and still have gas for the run. Race nutrition in on the mark. Got home with GU down my front though.
I watched some Ironman videos on their website for inspiration. I so want to become and Ironman!!!
Fitting in training with life happening all around is tough. Bad things happening at work. It's time for me to move on from my current job. Hopefully someplace closer. I already drive an hour to and from work. By Thursday I am beat. Stressful job and long drive makes this triathlete unhappy. Not good for my husband. What a trooper!
Prayers for a friend that lost a mom this year and is about to lose a dad. She is so strong.
Off the bed and stretch. This week will carry me to another chapter. Change can be good.
