My swim test on Friday night actually went well. The best part is that I did improve! Woohoo! Not by much but I did.
Mary worked with me a bit on my stroke. I still feel like I need to work on my breathing. Or it may be conditioning. I sure hope I can swim for a longer period soon. In the open water there is no wall to hang on too to catch your breath between laps!
Warmup + 3x400 swim test+ cool down= 56 laps
Test= 7:30,7:38,7:40
Mary said that was good and good also that I'm consistent.
I found triathlon disgust calculators and I know now what pace I need to do. I have lots to improve on.
Saturday:
Saturday was the CrossFit NW Throw Down in Marysville. It was an all day event so I did not get my hour bike in! Sucks!
The event consisted of three workouts.
#1- 5 10 15 10 5
Kettle Bell swings (35#) Rx
Pull ups
Deadlifts (135#)
10 minute cap...finished all with seconds to spare.
That was a lot of weight for the deadlifts but decided not to scale the workout. Wow! That was a hard one! When I went to the 15 deadlifts, I looked down at my left hand and saw my ripped hand. Funny. It did not hurt. Not yet. They never hurt till I wash my hair.
#2- In six minutes
30 clean and jerks 75# (Rx 95#) I was not going to hurt my back anymore. It was still very sore from last Thursdays practice. Glad I brought my foam roller.
...knees to elbow handstand pushups with the time left.
I got to the handstands and did 6! I had practiced earlier at work when I found out what they were. I was just hoping that I could get through the clean and jerks to get to the wall and do the handstands.
#3- The last WOD was not be disclosed till after the last heat.
15 minute cap...
10 Power cleans 45# (Rx 65#)
20 Burpees jumped over bar
30 Ring leg lifts (hang from rings and lift legs to put toes through rings)
40 Tire jumps
50 Sumo deadlifts highpulls 45#
Then back down to the power cleans.
I was not going to kill myself so I scaled the weight.
I got back down to the burpees and did 4 of those. So close.
That was an exhausting one. Good endurance really helped. I need to work on my box jumps. Some of the fittest girls had springs on their feet!
Big shout out to all who came and cheered Reggie, Kristi, Sara, Carrie and me on through all the WOD's! Thanks much for being there!
Sunday: Kirkland Half Marathon
Went to this race to do as a training run for my triathlon training. No stress on time and just run. No stopping for water or for all the killer hills. Started my Garmin and I hid it under my sleeve and never looked at it again till the finish line. Best, most enjoyable race I have had in a long time! I even cried at the finish because I thought I had to at least finish it at 2:10 or slower. Kirkland has lots of hills. I did better than I had hoped and had fun.
Time= 2:01:56
Things are paying off. This is the pace that I am hoping to do at my Ironman!
There are no off days in triathlon, Sheryl! :-)
ReplyDeleteJust kidding! I admire your dedication to training and you ROCKED the throwdown....simply amazing to watch you do that last WOD!
Thanks Marci! I'm having allergy attacks and did not get my run in on Tuesday. I have to do it Wednesday. Yes, no day off. lol
