In two weeks!

Last Saturday I ran my last long run, 22 miles. It's amazing how far I have come in such a short time. In January when I ran my 18 mile training run, the last quarter mile was the worst! My 22 miler last weekend was so much better. No worst for me! I feel fit and ready. Now it's time to taper.
I had 14 miles to do today. No problem except for the rain. I didn't start to get cold till the last couple miles when the temp dropped. I was drenched though and it took 15 minutes in my car to warm up and for my fingers to thaw out. Boy, that hot shower and hot cup of coffee were sure nice!!
Even though it's two weeks till my marathon I thought it would be a good idea to get new running shoes. I know. I know! Kinda late to be breaking in new shoes but in this weeks runs my legs were aching. I was hoping my K-Swiss Ironman shoes were going to make it but I put too many miles on them. My new Brook Launch's are RED and I love them. The old Launch's were a boring grey/blue. These will look great with the rest of my attire for Yakima. I will be a splash of color with red, orange, yellow and of course pink!

On Thursday of this week I think I had a panic attack thinking of my marathon. I was driving to work and realized that it's in almost two weeks. Thoughts started going through my head and I had to calm myself down. It wasn't till later in the day that I realized that it may have been a panic attack! Talking to coach Mary yesterday helped though. We've got a plan. Thanks Mary! I've done the work and feel good and now to rest and tune up for the race.

Tomorrow is the 2012 All In Challenge "Repeat WOD". This was started six weeks ago and at 4 pm everyone who accepted the challenge will repeat the workout. The one with the best increase of repetitions from the first WOD wins. Second and third place wins prizes too. This was a great motivator for me. The one thing that I changed to help my overall health and fitness and to hopefully help with my marathon training was to quit drinking. It will be six weeks since I had a drink. Let me tell you. I drank everyday, a glass of wine or a beer, or two! We'll see tomorrow if it has paid off. I really don't expect to win or place but I just want to do better. I was two reps short of eight rounds. I want to make those up and even better, go into the ninth round. We'll see. I haven't been in the box at all in March and it will be good to see everyone.

Book I'm reading: Dara Torres "Age Is Just A Number"
Very inspirational. She's going to try for her sixth Olympic appearance. Trials are in June. If she makes it, she will be the oldest Olympic swimmer ever at age 45. Go Dara!!
